GCSO Tests Tesla’s New Flying Patrol Unit — It Lasts 20 Minutes

GARLAND COUNTY, AR — Tesla reportedly sent the Garland County Sheriff’s Office a prototype patrol vehicle featuring its newest “flight mode” technology for testing. Unfortunately, the testing period lasted approximately 20 minutes before a deputy activated the flying feature and turned the $250,000-plus prototype into a very expensive roadside lawn ornament.

According to the incident report, the deputy apparently misunderstood Tesla’s instructions and attempted to use the new flight capability while traveling on Highway 7. Witnesses say the vehicle briefly became airborne before coming back down in a manner engineers described as “not part of the demonstration.” When the prototype was recovered, “I Believe I Can Fly” was reportedly stuck on repeat inside the vehicle.

Tesla engineers allegedly arrived at the scene, inspected the wreckage and asked the deputy why he decided to test the flying feature at highway speed. The deputy reportedly responded, “It seemed like a good idea at the time.” Officials declined to comment on the incident, although sources say the department is now considering returning to vehicles with the revolutionary technology known as “four wheels that stay on the ground.”
